The Passionate Week from Great Wednesday to Easter Monday
The
spring festivities in Bulgaria
are most attractive with both the abundance of rituals and the beauty of the
blooming nature.
We
have inherited celebrating March 1st (Granny Martha) from the Old
Bulgarians, from the Thracians we have
inherited the mysteries of welcoming the new life and all of those melted in
the Christian tradition of Easter festivities.
We
offer to you to share with us the excitement of the breathtaking beauty of the
spring and the enchantment of the ancient spring rites. The experience will be
unforgettable.
The
program takes place usually the week around the East Orthodox Easter which is a
week later than the Catholic Easter holidays.
Highlights:
- Getting to know the authentic wealth of events and rituals
- Participating in all activities for preparing and performing the traditional customs, baking the ritual breads, cooking the special meals, decorating Easter eggs
- Visiting homes of local people and sharing the festivity with them
- Visiting the Easter Service in the church
Necessary materials:
- All of the materials necessary will be provided during the preparation of the rituals
